Written by the AgileFever editorial team. Program details were checked against the live program pages in October 2026. We teach the project and program management course described below.
Project managers get told that AI will “handle the admin.” The ones who actually benefit are not the ones who paste notes into a chat window. They are the ones who have turned a recurring task into a repeatable process: the same inputs, the same checks, a draft that arrives on schedule and a person who reviews it.
This roadmap is for project and program managers who want to make that move. It is a sequence of steps, with honest time estimates, not a promise of a new title.
What “AI-augmented” means in practice
| PM task | Before | With a built tool | Your role afterward |
|---|---|---|---|
| Project initiation | Writing the charter from a brief | A charter generator that outputs objectives, scope, stakeholders, risks and success criteria | Edit and approve |
| Planning | Breaking scope into work packages by hand | A WBS planner that proposes tasks, duration estimates and dependency flags | Correct estimates, own the plan |
| Reading project documents | Searching long contracts and specs | A RAG analyzer that answers questions from your documents | Verify answers against the source |
| Meetings | Writing minutes and chasing actions | An agent that extracts decisions and action items and emails attendees | Check before sending |
| Change control | Assessing a change request against the plan | A change-impact tool that drafts the analysis | Decide and communicate |
| Reporting | Compiling a weekly status narrative | A generator that reads progress from Sheets, including earned value, and drafts the narrative | Add judgment, sign off |

The roadmap, step by step
- Pick two tasks. Choose recurring tasks that take you more than an hour a week and have clear inputs, such as status reports and meeting minutes.
- Learn enough Python. The prerequisite course, Python for AI, is 6 hours. You need functions, loops and Pandas, not software engineering.
- Build the tools. GenAI & Agentic AI for Project & Program Management runs 12 hours over three days. You build the six tools above in Python with the OpenAI API and LangGraph, then rebuild them as n8n workflows that need no code to maintain. The OpenAI API credit for the whole course is about $10.
- Run them on real work, with review. Use the output as a first draft for a month. Track how often you change it.
- Write down the rules. Decide what can be sent without review (probably nothing at first) and what must be checked.
- Go deeper only if you need it. If your role starts to include AI product delivery, the 74-hour GenAI and Agentic AI BootCamp is the next step. Many PMs will not need it.
Hours listed on the course pages, excluding your own practice
Things that go wrong
- Sending a generated status report without reading it. You remain accountable for what a sponsor receives, so the course is built around AI drafting and you reviewing.
- Feeding confidential project documents into a tool your company has not approved. Check your data policy first.
- Automating a process that is already broken. If nobody reads the weekly report, a faster report is still unread.
Who should skip the coding path
If you do not want to touch code at all, the 4-hour AI Blueprint gives you a non-technical foundation, and AI Transformation for Business Leaders suits those who decide AI strategy and budget. If you own a product backlog, the Product Owners and Managers course is closer to your role. The Project and Program Management course costs $450 in the US.
